Alex is College Aid Services’ Executive Vice President and Cheif Operating Officer. He is responsible for all the “back-of-the-house” operations which include Finance, Marketing, Human Resources, and IT.
Before joining College Aid Services full-time, Alex was the Director of International Business Development and Consulate/Embassy Relations for Baptist Health South Florida. At Baptist Health, he was responsible for global marketing, including business development, strategy, research, and the operations of several international marketing offices and a diagnostic imaging center in the Cayman Islands. While at Baptist, Alex grew Baptist Health’s international market share and developed a strong and diverse team of in-country managers throughout Latin America and the Caribbean.
Prior to Baptist Health, Alex Fuentes was Vice President of Marketing and Interactive for the Miami Herald Media Company, a McClatchy company. Alex was with the Herald for over thirteen years and held several positions, including Interactive General Manager, Director of Interactive Products, Interactive Site Operations Manager, Online Business Development Manager, and Classified Business Development Manager. At the Herald, Alex was responsible for the launch of the company’s first mobile apps and was recognized as an industry leader. Other notable initiatives included the launch of several new websites, the redesigns of the company’s flagship sites, MiamiHerald.com and elNuevoHerald.com, and the national multichannel marketing campaign for McClatchy’s “2020” redesign which ran in all 30 of McClatchy’s markets.
Prior to the Miami Herald, Alex spent just over three years at Yahoo! en Español as their Sales Programs and Promotions Specialist. At Yahoo!, his focus was executing integrated multi-tiered promotional programs for clients targeting the U.S. Hispanic and Latin American markets.
Alex is a seasoned professional with over 23 years of experience. His specialties include strategy, domestic and international marketing, business development, healthcare marketing, advertising, digital and social media, search engine optimization, web/mobile development, user interface design, and project management.
Alex holds a Bachelor in Communications degree from Florida International University and a Master's in Business Administration degree from Florida State University.
Alex is fluent in English and Spanish. He also enjoys participating in long-distance races (e.g. half & full marathons) and is a lover of all pets, but especially dogs.
